Grays Court

One of the most historic buildings in England; Grays Court is the oldest inhabited house in York. Witness to political favours courted by medieval Minster Treasurers and three royal visits.

York , North Yorkshire

The vibrant and diverse history of Grays Court provides the opportunity to stay, dine and relax in a building that has seen knighthoods bestowed, played host to kings and has the privilege of being the only privately owned building in York with direct access to York’s City Walls.

The hotel has eleven tastefully decorated en-suite hotel rooms, each with a view of the cobbled courtyard, the half-acre of garden bound by the City Walls, or York Minster itself. The rooms are furnished to a high standard in keeping with the history of the house, and the bathrooms are stocked with Clarins toiletries.

Following a recent rebranding, The Bow Room at Grays Court is an elegant restaurant that seats only 22 at a time, with stunning views over half an acre of garden bounded by the City Walls.
